You are not alone

Women across New Zealand and Australia are fighting the good fight against women-specific illnesses such as endometriosis, PCOS, and thyroid conditions.

Some are treatable and treatment can be supported by positive nutritional management. Others are chronic conditions with symptoms that can be positively managed through customised nutrition treatment. My goal is to help you live a full and fulfilling life that is not hindered by your symptoms.

Endometriosis

There is a vast amount of research out there on how to manage endometriosis. But did you know that your diet can have an impact on your endometriosis symptoms? Specifically, dietary changes can help to alleviate painful chronic inflammation. For example, a recent study found that chronic pain had improved in 43% of women who had a high antioxidant intake compared to those who did not.

Symptoms of endometriosis include:

  • painful periods.
  • abdominal pain.
  • bloating.
  • reduced fertility.
  • nausea & fatigue.
  • powerful bowel movements.
  • painful intercourse.

A dietitian specialising in women’s health can help you optimise your diet by helping you:

Assess your diet in order to relieve bloating symptoms and regulate your hormones through dietary strategies. Also, choose foods that are high in antioxidants to assist in decreasing your inflammation levels.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)

PCOS is caused by insulin resistance in 80% of women with this condition. High insulin levels result in the development of cysts in the ovaries. Did you know that your diet can assist with many of these unwelcome and painful symptoms?

Symptoms of PCOS include

  • acne
  • irregular periods
  • weight gain
  • mood changes
  • infertility
  • fatigue

Seeing a dietitian can help you make science-based adjustments to your diet which can improve the management of your PCOS symptoms.

A dietitian specialising in women’s health can be beneficial for women with PCOS by:

  • reducing insulin levels
  • regulating periods
  • regulating ovulation
  • boosting fertility
